  2. Selling multiple quantities of a brand new item

  3. Selling multiple variants of an item (colour, size etc)

  4. Accepting pre-orders from users on Carousell or selling items via drop-shipping

  5. Selling custom made-to-order items

  6. Predominantly selling Brand new or unused items of a single category or a related class of categories

  7. Selling handmade items (listing multiple of such items regularly)

  8. Selling or offering services

  9. Buying items in bulk to sell for profit

  10. Operating a physical store or having multiple sales channels

  11. Using stock images to describe or represent products/services offered

  12. Contacting multiple sellers for the purpose of buying items for resale

 

What’s the difference between a Personal account and a Professional account?

The two account types cater to different selling needs and goals by offering distinct features and tools. Here’s a quick breakdown:

Personal account

Best for: Casual sellers who want to declutter their homes, sell secondhand items, or occasionally part with something brand-new they don’t need anymore.

Features: Basic selling and promotional tools to help you list and sell items easily.

Professional account

Best for: Businesses, frequent sellers, service providers, or anyone looking to grow their sales and expand their reach.

Features: Advanced tools to help boost the visibility of your listings, manage multiple items in bulk, and access deeper insights to optimize your selling strategy.

Ultimately, the Professional Account is designed for sellers looking to grow and maximize their sales, while the Personal Account is suited for casual sellers decluttering or selling occasional items.

What’s the difference between being on a Professional account and subscribing to CarouBiz?

A Professional account is an account type that’s suited for sellers with professional selling activities on Carousell. On the other hand, CarouBiz (Carousell for Business) is a subscription-based service available to anyone whether you’re a casual or professional seller. CarouBiz offers premium tools to further increase efficiency and grow sales.

When you’re on a Professional account, you get access to professional selling features like bulk promotional tools, Competitor Insights, and Search Insights.

If you’re a Professional seller subscribed to CarouBiz, you’ll have access to CarouBiz tools, e.g. adding a WhatsApp button to your listings, auto/quick replies, discounts on Bumps and Spotlights, along with many other subscription-only benefits.


Can I use the same Carousell account for both commercial and personal selling?

Yes, however the account will be tagged as a Professional account.  We recommend that commercial sellers use their Professional account exclusively for business purposes and create a separate personal account for casual selling.

How do I switch my account to a Professional account?

Currently, Carousell automatically switches sellers to Professional accounts if their selling activities meet these criteria

Once switched, you’ll need to complete the verification process within 90 days to fully set up your Professional account. This involves completing KYC (Know-Your-Customer) verification by linking your Singpass. All sellers must complete verification to continue selling on a Professional account.

What happens if I don’t complete verification for my Professional account?

If you don’t complete identity verification within 90 days, your listings will be hidden from buyers. Should you encounter any issues with the verification process, feel free to reach out to us for assistance.

How do I switch back to a Personal account?

If your account was automatically switched to a Professional account, it’s because your selling activity indicates that this account type is the best fit for your needs. If you feel strongly about switching back to a Personal account, please contact us, and we will review your request.
