Tell us about yourself and your business on Carousell!

Hi everyone, my name is Terence, and my company My 1st Piece sells digital pianos. I have been on Carousell since 2017 and my best selling product is my upright digital piano. I have realised that many people are looking for affordable digital pianos as they do not wish to invest too much money into a traditional piano. 

 

Why did you choose Carousell as your selling platform and in your opinion, how is it better than other platforms? 

Compared to the various online shopping platforms, Carousell was the best option for me due to the fact that my product brand is new in the market and consumers have many questions surrounding my product. The Carousell chat allows me to reply to my customers’ enquiries spontaneously. It is the least expensive but most effective form of marketing. I closed my first sale through Carousell just within days after posting my product. That gave me the confidence to continue and focus on the side-business then, to a full-time business today. 

Setting up a shop on Carousell is very easy and effortless. Just by uploading the photo(s) and the description of the product with my mobile, I’d be done! Customer service is also great, Xin Yi from the Client Success Team speedily got back to me when I had an issue once, and told me to reach out to her if I needed any support in future. 

 

What were some of your difficulties you faced and how has CarouBiz Booster Package helped your business?

During the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, online sales increased at least 3 times more and I was not prepared for it back then. I had multiple orders a day and I had to engage 3rd party delivery services to fulfil my orders, and of course, searching this service up on Carousell as a user was the fastest possible way for me. When it was announced that “non-essential” jobs could not be carried out, I had to take a break unwillingly as well.

Can you share with us your most memorable experience on Carousell so far? 

There are many wonderful customers who sincerely leave very good feedback for my products and services at Carousell. During phase 3 of reopening, I had a customer who told me that they needed a keyboard piano urgently as he is under quarantine at a hotel and is almost going “crazy” without anything to do, and he still has many days to be stuck in the hotel room. Immediately, I geared up my mask, arranged with the hotel concierge so that it will be a contactless delivery. He was very grateful that I could provide this service that he chanced upon in Carousell. That was a new experience I ever encountered.

 

Is there any advice you’d give to someone unsure about growing their business on Carousell?

If you want to list your business on Carousell but don’t think you are sure yet, all I have to say is, it just takes a minute of your time to open an account. Listing your product will take another minute of your time. Following that, a pool of potential buyers will be looking at your product instantly. This, I’m 100% sure.
